  • Work on KipPod I first began in November of 2021. The shape of the structure is based on a tiny houseboat, creating a cosy, interesting space which can be enjoyed from the inside and outside.

  • With a desire to use as many recycled materials as possible, we first built the steel structure and brought everything else to life as we sourced materials along the way. The timber has been sourced from my father's older sheep yards. The iron cladding was salvaged from a local builder and his fisherman father in exchange for a bottle of whiskey.

  • The arched doorway was discovered in a salvage yard in Norwood. The interiors feature raw plywood, multifunctional rechargeable lighting and a concrete terrazzo benchtop created using plastic waste. Designed to inspire and relax, we hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did creating the space.

We call it a 'DIY Nature Retreat'

A new concept in retreats our DIY nature retreats are designed not to tell you how to rest, but to create a space where rest becomes inevitable.

A place where nature’s beauty, quiet surroundings, and thoughtful touches give you the permission and tools to truly pause and recharge. Empowering guest to take home with them new tools to cope with modern life.

Coorong Life isn’t just a destination - it’s an invitation to rediscover your personal peace and permission to rest.

What's a 'KipPod'?

KipPod {noun} Kip English slang for sleep, Pod referring to its cosy small size.

The logic is simple - we want you to feel as faraway from normal life as you can, the large porthole window is the centre piece to the design with the bed facing the water view's inviting you to rest.

Happy Visitors

Kate’s Kip Pod was exactly what I needed during the school holidays for some alone time with my dog, nature and a good book. The view from my comfortable bed was beautiful and it was lovely to walk around the Coorong and watch the birdlife. The pod had everything I needed and I loved the fire pit outside.

Coorong.life was an amazing destination that I would highly recommend for people who are wanting to get a quiet and relaxing get away. My partner and I also felt very accommodated by the hosts, Kate andTim, during our lovely stay surrounded by the beautiful life of the Coorong

What a magical weekend at the Coorong. The host made sure everything was perfect. The setting was breathe taking. Such amazing bird life, I have never seen so many pelicans. A wonderful place to switch off. I will definitely visit again and will recommend to friends!

— Renee W.

No better place to disconnect from the city life. Off the grid tiny house a stones throw from the water. Quality features inside make the adjustment easy. Kate and the pups were also brilliant hosts. Stayed for three nights but wish it was more!

— Shaun W-J.

Sunsets, wildlife, ocean, birds, serenity... memories made with lifetime friends.
Thank you for the outstanding hospitality Kate. I can’t wait to come back!
