Collage of photo of artist Cynthia on the Coorong

Artist : Cynthia Schwertsik

My practice is anchored in the exploration of place and to respond through my work. A truely magical place and such a privilege to wonder around and just observe, letting things emerge.

I had the joy of spending time with the amazing performing artist Cynthia. She was truly intriguing to watch as she worked from her own photographs, tripod set up, and the stillness of the day all around us. We even took photos together — me behind the lens, her in front of it — and it’s a memory I’ll always treasure.

Artist Bio:

My art practice is an investigative practice of poetic response to people and place through performative actions and contemporary storytelling.

In this collaborative, multivalent practice, the medium and methods follow the site-specific requirements, the context, and the conceptual ideas.

I reflect on the complexities of contemporary life with humour and an attitude of care.
